It's that time again. It's become a bit of a tradition, each year I spotlight some of my favourite local brands. You can see some of my Christmas blog posts from previous years here: 2015, 2016, and 2017 - Many of these businesses mentioned in previous posts still exist and sell the same (or similar) products, so take a browse if you're in need of some more inspiration. I have so many more I could add to this list so if you're after something specific, get in touch, name your category and I will no doubt have a suggestion for you :)

Jennifer Strange | Tartan Hare Counted Cross-Stitch Design
Jennifer Strange is an Auckland-based designer/maker with an eye for detail and beautiful design. Jennifer and I have been friends for years through meeting at markets when we were both in the early days of starting our businesses. I am constantly in awe of Jen's work ethic and quality of anything she produces.
Jennifer designed and embroidered this 'Tartan Hare'. She has created a pack with the chart and instructions for others to be able to whip this up. Her kit is available online at Felt. Either give this design a nudge yourself as a thoughtful gift, or buy it for the creative person in your life who has a keen eye for detail.
Otti & Olli. | Bespoke Shortbread Sweet Treats
Gorgeous bespoke treats by Auckland-based Otti and Olli. Andrew and Susan are the brains behind this brand and I have been lucky enough to work with them on their branding with my other business Design by Cheyney.
If you were at General Collective last weekend, you may have spotted Otti & Olli's spectacular stand upon entering the market. Andrew is a creative perfectionist, which is just the kind of personality you want when sweet treats are concerned. Pictured below are their Melting Moments and Shortbread. Otti & Olli's goodies are the perfect gift for someone with a sweet tooth. They're also great as a stocking filler or on the table for your Christmas party!
Product: Melting Moments (pictured left) and Shortbread (pictured right)
Price: $6 each
Where to buy: Crafternoon Tea (Dec 1st), Coatesville Market (Dec 2nd), Alberton Market Day (Dec 9th), Crafternoon Tea (Dec 15th) or SKYCITY Christmas Wonderland (Dec 23rd)
Design by Cheyney | Print Your Own Poster Designs
Design by Cheyney is my other business which mainly offers design services to local and international businesses. I wanted to offer some affordable PYO (Print Your Own) designs so started up a shop which allows people to buy digital prints. These prints are the perfect gift to send to people overseas (you don't purchase a physical product, just the file) or for someone who has specific decor requirements. The beauty of these prints is you have control over how they are printed and how to frame them. Have fun getting creative with these!
Product: Print Your Own Designs - 3 different designs to choose from
Price: $5 - $25 (A4-A1 size)
Where to buy: Online at the Design by Cheyney shop
Wild & Yellow | Real Natural Christmas Wreaths
Look at how gorgeous this wreath is! Ashleigh, the brains behind WIld and Yellow, handmade this gorgeous wreath and is taking pre-orders for Christmas from now. I love it because it's Christmas, but not in-your-face Christmas, the touch of Manuka flowers is genius.
This wreath lasts about 10 days (it's constantly drinking), all it takes is a quick spritz now and then. I want this wreath on my Christmas dining table as a centrepiece. Perfect for the party host in your life!
Product: Real Natural Christmas Wreath
Price: From $69.99 (includes Auckland delivery)
Where to buy: Contact Ashleigh from Wild and Yellow
Santosa | Good For Everything Spray
I LOVE this spray! Never has a cleaning spray smelled better. Not only that, Katie, the owner of Santosa is committed to keeping her spray all natural so you can rest assured that no nasties are left in your environment. This is a great gift for the eco-conscious or those who love rolling up their sleeves for a good ol' Spring clean (I'm one of those).
May I suggest you buy one as a gift and one for yourself if you haven't tried this spray, it's incredible. Spend over $59 at the Santosa online store and the shipping is free - A great incentive to stock up on a few on these!
If you have some favourite local New Zealand brands or products to mention, please do so in the comments below. I love to hear from you.
Until next time,
